When we met Colin, he had never really traveled many places. We took him to Disneyland and the beach for the first time before his mission. Then he went to Virginia and Washington on his mission. Before they got married, he and Amy went to Colorado to visit his sister and her kids. And then--he joined the US Army Reserves. Since then, he has been to Missouri, Texas twice, Illinois, Germany and now Afghanistan. (Which I never realized was so close to China.) He is no longer just an Arizona boy. Colin gets to spend his 25th birthday at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan. Amid dust so fine, everything is always dirty. In a country that doesn't value life or freedom the way we do. Missing his wife and son. I admire him and his dedication to his family and country. So far, he is doing well. Working hard. And paying attention, so he can keep safe. Happy Birthday to Colin! Next year we will celebrate double. Not just because it will be his birthday again, but because he will be home with his family in the good old USA. I am looking forward to that day.
